After drawing this original design, I converted it to a special digital format so that it could be carved into sturdy Douglas fir on a hand-built, computer network controlled (CNC) router machine built by my husband.
Our totems are unique and one-of-a-kind because each of piece of wood has its own characteristics – coloring, grain, “beauty marks,” how it takes the stain, etc.
Material: Douglas fir, finished with MinWax penetrating stain (light). Sawtooth hanger on the back.
Approximate Size: 18″ high, 5 1/2″ wide, and 1 1/2″ thick.
Care: The better you care for your totem, the longer it will look great! It will do best indoors, but can be placed in a covered area outside. Avoid exposure to water, rain, and snow. Recoat with a finish of your choice as needed.
With this natural, wood product you can expect some irregularities such as knots, cracks, wood grain, color variation, slivers, weathering, etc. Please look closely at the photos to make sure you will appreciate this small totem and welcome it into your heart.
